Biography
Michel McNabb, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio received a fine arts degree from Denison University specializing in printmaking.
Her passion for jewelry was rediscovered after finding a wa model that was made when she was 17. Each piece of jewelry is carefully carved by hand in wax. Her jewelry is like little wearable sculptures.
Michel's inspiration comes from the things around her such as simple geometric shapes or the arhitecture in Madrid, where she resides. Her other passion is riding horses, whose beauty and power are a common theme in her work.
She has two little boys who keep her busy and add a more playful side to her jewelry as well as her life. Her work can be found in boutiques both in the US and in Europe as well as several catalogs.
"I love jewelry and always have. I lose myself in museums, studying the detail in jewelry from different civilations. This is when I feel so inspired that I can't wait to get back to my studio to create. The techniques of the ancient masters inspire me. I like the fact that each piece took so much time to create. Those creations last centuries and immortalize cultures. When I make a piece of jewelry, I think about making something that will last much longer than I will."
